One time in college, I was sitting in a political science class. We were discussing the upcoming election. I asked a fellow student who she was going to vote for…she replied, “I don’t care to vote in elections.” I said, “But you’re a political science major! Don’t you believe in the 19th Amendment? or Susan B. Anthony?” Her response: “Don’t know it. Don’t know her.” I’ll never forget that moment. I was shocked she didn’t know that the 19th Amendment was specifically enacted for HER.
Susan B. Anthony is one of the most important women in history. She was arrested, tried in a widely publicized trial, convicted and fined…simply because she wanted the right to vote. She went on to become a prolific public speaker (something unheard of back then for women) and activist, she devoted her life to racial, gender, and educational equality. She played a prominent role in the women’s suffrage movement and was deeply influential in the passing of the 19th Amendment. She became the first woman to be depicted on a U.S. coin! Because of her, I can vote.
“We ask justice, we ask equality, we ask that all the civil and political rights that belong to citizens of the United States, be guaranteed to us and our daughters forever.”
Susan B. Anthony
Still they persevered.
TBBB’s mission is community over competition, of women supporting women, in business and in all aspects of life.
We stand for INCLUSION and EQUALITY. It’s not about hate. It’s not about anger. We are, first and foremost, advocates of love. We love and need men, and we strive for unity so both sexes can live equally.
We are better together.
TBBB is a rallying cry to stand UP to discrimination and inequality, a call to action to the women of the United States to UNIFY, to connect and join together, to encourage each other to pursue our dreams. We seek gender to be something that describes us, not defines us.
“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”
Coretta Scott King
When we celebrate our accomplishments, we’re all lifted up. Together women can do more, go further, and change the world. Do not be afraid to speak up, become a leader, SHAKE UP THE STATUS QUO.
“When women support each other, we accomplish amazing things.”
It’s up to us to guide the next generation of female leaders. Girls often look to the women in their lives for cues about how to think and act. When we speak confidently, take risks, and own our accomplishments, we set positive examples for girls to follow.*
We are bold. We are brave. We raise each other up.
