International Women’s Day FORUM was a HIT!
It was truly a night of laughter, honest truths, real-world stories of success, failure, lessons learned, advice and INSPIRATION. Effortlessly facilitated, with approachable, expert panelists and to-the-point questions resulted in one incredible celebration to honor International Women’s Day and female entrepreneurs!
HIGHLIGHT of the night: Ever Matson, 9 year old founder of Child Hunger Sucks. This little girl is a BORN ENTREPRENEUR. Rarely do I hear an adult’s product/company pitch as polished and inspiring as this young woman displayed. Her goal: end child hunger 1 lollipop at a time.
Kendra Scott Jewelry was on hand and donated 20% of the night’s sales to Child Hunger Sucks!
Some of my favorite quotes from the panelists:
[During her years practicing law] “I felt like I was a round peg trying to fit into a square hole. I realized I had to transition from trying to meet everyone else’s expectations to meeting my own expectations.” ~ Viveca Hess
“Sexual harassment in the workplace spans a large spectrum of behavior. It is OK to STOP and say, ‘that’s NOT acceptable.’ We have to hold space for this kind of conversation.” ~ Jill Felska
“Plants contain vital life force energy that supports your body. The temple of your soul. It’s so ironic that your body, your temple, very often gets placed at the bottom of your to do list. When you take care of yourself, it fills your cup. Use food as a form of self care.” ~ Perla of Elevation Eating
“There are seasons in life. You can have children and be a mother, you can have an awesome career, and be a badass wife. I know, because I am one!” ~ Andrea Gallagher
Lastly, my personal favorite of the night:
“Don’t let anyone put a period where God intended there to be a comma.”
~ Andrea Gallagher founder of The Better Business Babe
THANK YOU to all of the panelists, Krystal, Jill, Kelly, Viveca, and Better Business Babe founder and bodacious babe Andrea (and her daughter Ava, who was pulled to the front by her mama, despite her total adorable embarrassment), and a special thanks to PERLA, who’s plant based catering by Elevation Eating was tastefully d-lish and had us all craving more. Thank you to all the vendors and Morgan Brass @ Downtown Works for moderating!
Better Business Babe wants to THANK each and every person who took the time to show up — the first step to change is just showing up. The event SOLD OUT! and was still going strong after 9pm.
It was more than the standard networking event–it was about:
UNITY THROUGH COMMUNITY
Here’s to strong women:
May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.
